The Cleveland Browns travel to Kansas City on Jan. 17 to face the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in the second round of the NFL playoffs.
A win in Kansas City would propel the Browns to the AFC Championship Game for the first time since 1990, when they lost to the Denver Broncos for the third time in the AFC Championship Game, 37-21.
It’s the first divisional round game the Browns have played in since 1994, when they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 29-9 under then-head coach Bill Belichick. Vinny Testaverde was 13-for-31 for 144 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in the game. Earnest Byner was the Browns’ leading rusher with nine carries for 43 yards.
Kansas City, meanwhile, was the league’s best team in 2020. The Super Bowl LIV champions went 14-2. They feature former NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes, who threw for 4,740 yards and 38 touchdowns and just six interceptions this season.

The winner of this game will play the winning team of Saturday’s other AFC divisional round game between the Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens.
